Wang Chongyang founded the Quanzhen, or Complete Perfection, school of Taoism, which integrated internal alchemy, Chan Buddhist discipline, and Confucian virtue into a monastic path of self-cultivation. His seven disciples became the Seven Perfected Ones who spread Quanzhen across northern China. The school remains one of the two largest Taoist institutions today, with the Longmen lineage as its principal surviving branch.
