Tsoknyi Rinpoche is the third son of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, brother of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, and a holder of both the Drukpa Kagyu and Nyingma lineages. He was recognised as the third Tsoknyi Rinpoche by HH the 16th Karmapa and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and enthroned at Tsechen Tenphel Ling in eastern Tibet.
Rinpoche is the head of the Drukpa Kagyu Heritage Project, which has restored ancient monasteries and nunneries across eastern Tibet and the Himalayan border, and is the founder of Pundarika Foundation, his international teaching umbrella. He is also the spiritual director of more than fifty nuns at Gebchak Nunnery, one of the oldest and most rigorous yogini communities in the Tibetan world.
He is widely regarded as one of the most accessible teachers of Dzogchen of his generation, and as a particular specialist in the subtle body — the relationship between the channels, the winds, and the mind. His teaching on the "essence love" of the heart and on healing the wounded inner child has reached a substantial audience beyond traditional Vajrayana students, including through his collaborations with Tara Bennett-Goleman and Daniel Goleman.
He teaches in English with great fluency and humour. His curriculum moves between the Dzogchen view, somatic awareness, and the recognition of the natural state, returning frequently to the four reminders, refuge, bodhicitta, and the pointing-out instructions.
