Shohaku Okumura is the foremost living English-language translator and teacher of Dōgen and the principal heir of his teacher Kosho Uchiyama Roshi (the great Sōtō reformer of Antaiji). He founded the Sanshin Zen Community in Bloomington and serves as one of the great pedagogical bridges between Japanese Sōtō scholarship and English-speaking practitioners. His Realizing Genjōkōan is the definitive English Genzo-e teaching.
