Life and lineage

Sayadaw U Pandita was the principal heir of Mahasi Sayadaw and one of the most demanding and exacting vipassana teachers of his generation. He served as senior teacher at Mahasi Yeiktha before founding the Panditarama centres, including Panditarama Lumbini — physically anchoring the Mahasi Burmese vipassana tradition to the Buddha's birthplace and making it one of the five institutional anchors of The Promised Studios' geography.

He taught major Western dharma teachers including Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg. His In This Very Life is a foundational manual of the Mahasi method.
