Ram Dass was a Harvard psychologist who became a spiritual teacher after meeting his guru Neem Karoli Baba in India. His 1971 book Be Here Now became a countercultural touchstone, introducing a generation to meditation, devotion, and service. His later work focused on conscious aging, death, and the integration of spiritual practice with social action.
