Paramahansa Yogananda brought Kriya Yoga and the science of meditation to the West, founding the Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920. His Autobiography of a Yogi has introduced millions to Indian spirituality and remains one of the most influential spiritual books of the twentieth century. He taught the underlying unity of all religions and the direct experience of God through meditation.
