Master Hsing Yun

Master Hsing Yun was the founder of Fo Guang Shan, one of the four great Buddhist Mountains of contemporary Taiwan, and the principal architect of contemporary "Humanistic Buddhism" (人間佛教). He built a global network of temples, founded the Buddha's Light International Association, and authored hundreds of books. He is also a politically contested figure — a vocal One-China supporter and the centre of the 1996 Hsi Lai Temple campaign-finance scandal in the United States.
