Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Lama Zopa Rinpoche was the spiritual director of FPMT for nearly four decades following the passing of Lama Yeshe in 1984. Recognised as the reincarnation of the Lawudo Lama, a Sherpa hermit of the Solu Khumbu, he was Nepali by birth and remained deeply rooted in his homeland throughout his life. His teaching on guru devotion, tonglen, and the bodhicitta motivation underlying every action shaped a generation of FPMT students globally. He passed away on 13 April 2023; his reincarnation was announced in April 2025 and was reborn in Nepal.
