Kobun Chino

Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi was a quiet, deeply respected Sōtō teacher who arrived at Tassajara in 1967 to assist Suzuki Roshi and went on to found Jikoji Zen Center and Hokoji in Taos. He is widely known as the long-time personal Zen teacher of Steve Jobs, who studied with him for over twenty years. He drowned in 2002 in Switzerland while attempting to save his young daughter who had fallen into a pond.
