Karen Armstrong

Karen Armstrong is one of the most widely-read living scholars of comparative religion. A former Catholic nun, her Buddha (Penguin Lives, 2001) is among the most accessible biographies of the historical Buddha for a general readership; her A History of God and The Case for God shaped a generation of ecumenical religious literacy. She founded the Charter for Compassion in 2009 and remains one of the most consequential ecumenical voices in global religious dialogue.
