Henry Shukman

Henry Shukman is a fully transmitted teacher in the Sanbo Zen lineage (the Yasutani-Yamada line that integrates Sōtō and Rinzai), guiding teacher of Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, and founding teacher of The Way meditation app. A poet and novelist by background, he came to Zen through the Transcendental Meditation tradition before training with Joan Rieck Roshi and Yamada Ryoun. His conversations with Sam Harris on Waking Up have introduced kōan practice to a major secular audience.
