Bede Griffiths was a Benedictine monk who founded Shantivanam, a Christian ashram in South India, where he lived in a thatched hut, wore the saffron robe, and integrated Christian liturgy with Advaita Vedanta and yogic practice. His vision of a marriage between the rational West and the intuitive East has inspired generations of interspiritual seekers.
