The earth as our witness

When the Buddha touched the earth at Bodh Gaya, he did not invoke a god. He invoked the planet itself. The earth witnessed. The earth is still witnessing — to our climate, our extraction, our forgetting. Our practice cannot end at the cushion. The earth is the cushion now.

Earth witness, climate witness

The bhumisparsha mudra — the Buddha touching the earth — was never just a story. It is an ethical posture. The earth is our witness to suffering and our witness to liberation. Our climate practice is dharma practice. There is no separating them anymore.
