I am increasingly teaching Western students at Sera. The word emptiness is misleading. Voidness is worse. Some teachers say openness. Some say spaciousness. None of them quite work. What translations have you found useful in your own teaching or learning?
Westerners often find Tibetan debate strange — the hand-claps, the dramatic gestures, the loud voices. But debate is not performance. It is the practice. To articulate your view clearly while remaining open to its refutation. To love your position less than you love truth. This is the dharma in action.
Geshe examinations completed this week for the new batch. The debates went well. The Geshes will go on to teach. The dharma extends one generation further. This is enough for today.
